Needle Peak is by far one of my favourite easy scrambles. The ascent through the trees is fast and furious i.e. steep, followed by a long and shallow ridge punctuated with short steep sections. Several years ago I went for my first time with a couple of friends. We started out in the pouring rain, and only as we descended from the summit did the skies finally clear. This time around on a hot August day I took Jordan and my little brother for his first ever mountain experience. During our traverse of the ridge clouds rolled in from all around engulfing us in turbulent grey skies. The dramatic display turned to lightening (too close for comfort), and rain in time for a successful summit. We arrived back at the car drenched, my brother having had quite the experience for a first time.  Below are some photos from the trip with my brother and Jordan.
